The first issue of the electronic Newsletter on archives and human rights is
now available at

5. This is an initiative of the ICA Working Group on archives and human
rights . The idea is to share
relevant professional information among archival institutions with
significant holdings for human rights investigations and individual
archivists with special interests in issues relating to the preservation of
and access to archives documenting human rights violations.
The information in the Newsletter will in particular relate to:
Follow up actions to the resolutions of the Conference of the
International Round Table on Archives (CITRA) in Cape Town, South Africa, in
2003
Meetings and conferences on archives and human rights
Other activities aiming at raising awareness about the importance of
archives for human rights
The Newsletter will appear on a monthly basis until the ICA Congress in July
2008. A possible outcome of the Congress could be the establishment of a
formalized Network, possibly within the ICA, on archives and human rights.
Until the Congress, where new decisions may be taken, the contents of the
Newsletter will reflect news and comments that each one of us decides to
share. The languages of contributions will be English, French and Spanish.
As a general rule, translations will not be provided. But, if at all
possible, contributors are invited to send texts in at least two of these
languages.
Each issue will include a "Focus" box on a selected topic. In this first
issue the Focus is a contribution by Perrine Canavaggio, Deputy
Secretary-General of the International Council on Archives, on the Practical
Guide to the Records of Non-governmental organizations

5. Ceci est une initiative du Groupe
de travail du Conseil International des Archives (ICA) sur les archives et
des droits humains. L'objectif de cette initiative est que les associations
professionnelles d'archivistes ainsi que les archivistes individuels
puissent partager une information professionnelle significative.
L'information contenue dans ce Bulletin fait référence, spécialement, à :
· Le suivi des résolutions approuvées par la Conférence
Internationale de la Table Ronde d'Archives (CITRA), tenue à Cape Town,
l'Afrique du Sud, en 2003
· Les réunions et les conférences sur les archives et les droits
humains
· Autres activités destinées à augmenter le niveau de
conscientisation sur l'importance des archives de droits humains
Ce bulletin sera publié chaque mois jusqu'à la conclusion du Congrès de
l'ICA en juillet de 2008. Jusqu'à la conclusion du Congrès, dans lequel on
adoptera de nouvelles décisions, le contenu de ce Bulletin reflétera les
nouvelles et les commentaires que chacun de nous veut partager. Les
contributions pourront être rédigées en anglais, français ou espagnol. Comme
norme générale, on n'offrira pas de traductions bien que, pourvu qu'il soit
possible, les collaborateurs doivent envoyer leurs textes dans au moins deux
de ces langues.

5. Es una iniciativa del Grupo de trabajo
del Consejo Internacional de
Archivos (ICA) sobre archivos y derechos humanos. El objetivo de esta
iniciativa es que tanto las asociaciones profesionales de archiveros como
los archiveros a título individual puedan compartir información profesional
relevante.
La información contenida en este Boletín hace referencia, especialmente, a:
El seguimiento de las resoluciones aprobadas por la Conferencia
Internacional de la Mesa Redonda de Archivos (CITRA), celebrada en Cape
Town, Sudáfrica, en 2003
Las reuniones y conferencias sobre archivos y derechos humanos
Otras actividades destinadas a aumentar el nivel de concienciación sobre
la importancia de los archivos de derechos humanos
Este boletín será publicado mensualmente hasta la celebración del Congreso
de la ICA en Julio de 2008. Hasta la celebración del Congreso, en el que se
adoptarán nuevas decisiones, el contenido de este Boletín reflejará las
noticias y comentarios que cada uno de nosotros queramos compartir. Las
contribuciones podrán redactarse en inglés, francés o español. Como norma
general, no se ofrecerán traducciones aunque, siempre que sea posible, los
colaboradores deberán enviar sus textos en al menos dos de estas lenguas.
