The Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR) now operates a major new
media project in Asia, the Philippine Human Rights Reporting Project
website. The Project platforms and promotes human rights coverage in the
Philippine media and aims to root better awareness of and adherence to human
rights in society for the benefit and protection of all.

The Philippine Human Rights Reporting Project happens at a time of growing
calls, here and abroad, to the Philippine State to put an end to the
worsening human rights violations against activists, journalists and
civilians. It aims to root human rights awareness in Philippine journalism
and to contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights in the
    Philippine society.

The Project provides dedicated and specialized training on human rights
issues. It commissions, publishes and disseminates papers, analysis,
research and investigative stories and reports on human rights issues in the
Philippines, including original blogs and print, audio and video reports. It
reviews media coverage of human rights issues, organizes events and outreach
activities to promote understanding that each and every one has the
responsibility and duty to observe and promote human rights for all.

The Philippine Human Rights Reporting Project believes that supporting
media's initiatives to improve its reporting helps create an environment
where journalists are able to do their work right and on time in defending
    human rights and democracy.
