Advanced Training Course on Monitoring Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

The Project on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights organizes annually professional training courses on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

The Project has extensive experience in organizing two types of training aimed at providing professionals with tailored knowledge on the protection of ESC rights according to their level of experience. The “Training Course on Understanding Economic, Social and Cultural Rights” is designed to introduce participants to ESC rights, while the “Advanced Training Course on Monitoring Economic, Social and Cultural Rights” is aimed at providing more practical tools to advanced professionals in this area.

On this occasion, the Project proudly announces the organization of the fifth annual Advanced Training on Monitoring Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

The Training Course will take place in Geneva, Switzerland from 7-11 May 2012.

The course is designed for human rights advocates, staff of NGOs and national human rights institutions, representatives of governments, and staff of UN bodies and other international organizations, as well as members of the academia, who want to gain in-depth knowledge on monitoring aspects related to economic, social and cultural rights, and skills on how to enhance their work on monitoring ESC rights.

The deadlines for applying for the training are as follows: 2 March 2012 for participants who require visa for Switzerland, and 16 March 2012 for participants not requiring a visa. To register, candidates need to submit a filled-in application form together with their CVs. The application form is available either online, or by requesting it at

Participation in the training is subject to a mandatory tuition fee of 1’500 Swiss Francs. This fee includes the costs of tuition, training materials, lunches and coffee breaks during the training and one dinner. Interested candidates should also take into consideration that the Project is not in the position to offer financial support. The costs of participation are entirely the responsibility of the candidates.
