Human Rights Education Associates (HREA) and the University for Peace Human Rights Centre are introducing a new e-learning course on international human rights law. Introduction to International Human Rights Law (Foundation Course) will be offered from 2 November-13 December 2011. This short certificate course offered jointly by HREA and the Human Rights Centre of the UN-mandated University for Peace introduces participants to the basics of international human rights law. The course is intended to not only build the foundations of the participants in international human rights law, but also as a foundation course for other HREA e-learning courses and to serve as a stepping stone for developing expertise in specialised areas of human rights law and practice. Other short courses offered in the third trimester for which it is still possible to apply, are:
- Environment and Human Rights (5 October-15 November 2011)
- Health and Human Rights (19 October-29 November 2011)
- Housing Rights are Human Rights (26 October-6 December 2011)
- The Rights of Persons with Disabilities (26 October-6 December 2011)
- Introduction to International Human Rights Law (Foundation Course) (2 November-13 December 2011)
The short e-learning courses are six weeks in duration and involve approximately 40 hours of reading, interaction with participants and instructor on discussion boards, quizzes and “webinars” with invited guests.
