The International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) is a Geneva and New York based human rights non-governmental organisation (NGO) that specialises in providing training, information, advice and advocacy on international and regional human rights procedures, for the benefit of human rights defenders worldwide. ISHR is looking for a talented, enthusiastic and creative IT and Web Officer to ensure the maintenance and updating of the server and network infrastructure; provide IT support to ISHR staff (help-desk, trouble-shooting, general office infrastructure and training); develop, maintain and update the ISHR Website and online communication; manage ISHR’s Google Apps, and provide support in managing a new CRM system and other communications tools.
The successful candidate will have strong desktop skills, troubleshooting experience for office software and operating systems, experience with maintaining and developing Websites, and the ability to customise existing software and applications to the needs of a small non-profit organisation (30 workstations and one server). The ideal candidate is experienced in managing and finding creative solutions for small to medium-sized office networks (currently Windows 2008 R2 -based server-client architecture) and is able to suggest improvements to ISHR’s current IT systems and infrastructure. Depending on the successful candidate’s profile, the new staff member may also be involved in educating human rights defenders regarding IT and internet security.
The IT and Web Officer reports to the Communication and Outreach Manager and is based in Geneva. This is a part-time position (50 percent), preferably working five days a week, either mornings or afternoons (negotiable).
