The Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa (IHRDA), with the financial support of the Open Society Initiative for West Africa, is operating a fund for individuals/groups litigating cases before the African Commission for Human and Peoples’ Rights.
The fund covers travel, accommodation and other related expenses. Applicants to this fund must fulfill the following criteria:
- Must be a national/organisation of an ECOWAS state, Cameroon, Chad or Mauritania;
- Must have a communication before the African Commission for Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACmHPR) [cases before the ACmHPR are referred to as ‘communications’].
Applications should consist of the following:
- An application letter;
- Description of the communication including detailed information on the progress of your communication with the ACHPR – approximately 800 words;
- Evidence of nationality [e.g. copy of ID, NGO or company registration document].

Financement: Appel à candidature aux Fonds d’Aide Juridique
L’Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa (IHRDA), avec l’appui financier d’OSIWA, gère un fonds d’aide pour les individus ou organisations ayant des communications (plaintes) devant la Commission africaine des droits de l’homme et des peuples. Ce fonds couvre les frais de voyage, l’hébergement et d’autres dépenses liés au développement du cas. Pour être éligible à ce fonds, les postulants doivent remplir les conditions suivantes:
- être ressortissant ou organisation basé dans un des pays de la CEDEAO, du Cameroun, du Tchad ou de la Mauritanie ;
- avoir une communication (plainte) devant la Commission africaine des droits de l’homme et des peuples (Commission africaine) [les plaintes introduites à la CmADHP sont appelés ‘communications’].
Le dossier de candidature doit comprendre :
- Une lettre de candidature ;
- Une brève présentation de la communication comportant des informations détaillées sur l’avancement de votre communication avec la Commission africaine – (800 mots approximativement) ;
- Preuve de la nationalité [ex : copy de la carte d’identité nationale, documents légaux de l’organisation].
